B R Cohn Silver Label 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon   $18 B R Cohn Wine

We first had our Wine of the Week several years ago during a visit to Sonoma.  Shortly after, it became a staple at The Wine Experience. It’s BR Cohn Silver Label Cabernet Sauvignon.

Hey, when you find a consistently high quality California Cabernet priced under twenty dollars be happy and start popping that cork!   Well, The Cohn 2004 Cab is just that.

Some of the grapes come from their Olive Hill vines where the winery is located and the rest are from surrounding Sonoma Valley vineyards.

What’s the taste?  Well, you’ll get the telltale flavors of dark berry fruits.  To us it’s like blackberries.  And there is a little minty quality to the finish along with some vanilla from the oak aging.

This is a well made, drinkable Cabernet that will be tasty with everything from a burger on the grill to a juicy steak, or even just sipping while snacking on some sharp cheddar.

The BR Cohn Silver Label 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon.  An everyday Cabernet for your wine of the week.

Winemaker's notes and comments:

The Silver Label Cabernet Sauvignon reflects a blending of grapes grown from the B.R. Cohn Olive Hill Estate Vineyard and select Sonoma County vineyards.

Our Silver Label Cabernet Sauvignon offers full rich flavors of berry, cassis and black cherry with hints of vanilla. Aged with premium French oak, which adds complexity and depth, resulting in a great value for a high quality Cabernet Sauvignon.

Founded by Bruce Cohn in 1984, B.R. Cohn Winery is located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley. The winery is surrounded by the 100-acre Olive Hill Vineyard where the soil is warmed by underground natural hot springs and gentle ocean breezes which create a unique microclimate and ideal growing conditions. The winery currently produces Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot made entirely from grapes grown in the Olive Hill Vineyard, as well as Chardonnay from the Carneros Region.

Notes on our Wines of the Week, Recommendations, and Picks:

When you read our thoughts, please remember that you may think differently.  A particular wine may be your favorite and not on our list.  Well, don't stop buying it because of that.  In fact, you may want to email us and let us know about it. These are our opinions but our FIRST recommendation is to go by your own palate.

A couple of other thoughts . . . first, prices are approximate.  They'll vary.  Second, different vintages mean different grapes and different tastes so our recommendation for a 2000 Merlot may not hold for 2001.

And lastly, we remind you to drink responsibly!  Now, all that said, here is a summary of  links to our suggestions.  Find one (or more) and pop the cork!

Read the fine print . . .

Wine consumption can have positive physical benefits or cause possible physical harm . . . the medical community is divided in some areas.  If you have any doubt, check with your doctor before consuming wine or any other alcoholic drink.

Our information is well researched.  Recommendations are based on our opinions at the time of publication.  At the same time, recommendations change.  Also, there may be significant variance in taste depending on storage, shipping, and other factors.
