Wine of the Week!
Condado de Haza 2004
Ribera del Duero $24
For our Wine of the Week from The Wine Experience, let’s go to Spain! Our choice is a beautiful one hundred percent Tempranillo… Condado de Haza 2004 Ribera del Duero.
This is a great wine that offers layers of taste experiences… one of the reasons it’s so versatile and drinkable. And de Haza is classy Tempranillo for about twenty four dollars.
From the first sip that’s like a burst of black cherry… to the almost slick feel of the wine in your mouth… to a finish tasting like a fresh cappuccino from the barista. It’s a wine to enjoy often.
Tapas are the small plate foods of Spain and this wine matches up across a wide range of their flavors. You can put it with grilled meats or just get out the cheese plate. Call it ‘fail-safe” food wine!
Condado de Haza 2004 Ribera del Duero is the wine of the week so have at it! But make it easy and just remember the Haza, on the label.

Winemaker's Notes and Comments
“Condado de Haza” wines are bottled after undergoing malolactic fermentation and stored for 15 months in American oak bottles. Although they can be enjoyed at once, they gain in depth and nuances with the passage of time.
Wine Advocate 91 points - Condado de Haza is another Alejandro Fernandez (of Pesquera fame) property also located in Ribera del Duero. Like all of his estates, the wines produced are 100% Tempranillo. The first vintage in this location was in 1993. The brilliant 2004 Condado de Haza received malolactic fermentation in barrels followed by 15 months in American oak.
Notes on our Wines of the Week, Recommendations, and Picks:
When you read our thoughts, please remember that you may think differently. A particular wine may be your favorite and not on our list. Well, don't stop buying it because of that. In fact, you may want to email us and let us know about it. These are our opinions but our FIRST recommendation is to go by your own palate.
A couple of other thoughts...first, prices are approximate. They'll vary. Second, different vintages mean different grapes and different tastes so our recommendation for a 2000 Merlot may not hold for 2001.
And lastly, we remind you to drink responsibly! Now, all that said, here is a summary of links to our suggestions. Find one (or more) and pop the cork!
