Wine of the Week!
Chapoutier 2006 "Belleruche"
Cotes du Rhone $8
We have a wine of the week for you that one of the best values in the wine shop. It’s Chapoutier 2006 “Belleruche” Cotes du Rhone.
For about eight dollars a bottle this is a wine that delivers a big taste experience. A blend of mostly Grenache and about twenty percent Syrah, this is a wine that is as versatile as it is affordable.
From the brilliant ruby color to the flavor of black cherry, it’s a terrific choice if you’re looking for your own “house red”… for any day sipping or when unexpected guests show up. Chapoutier is one of the great names in French winemaking and this is his “entry level” offering. That means quality to go along with the affordability.
The grapes are from vineyards surrounding the villages of the Sothern Rhone and the wine is blended to be consistently good. After all, it’s the Chapoutier name.

Winemaker's Notes and Comments:
Michel Chapoutier says that one of the most difficult tasks of a vineyardist and winemaker is to make a serious, high-quality wine, yet have it remain a good value. His "Belleruche" wines accomplish just that.
Grape varieties: 80 Red Grenache, 20 Syrah
Color: Garnet red
Aroma: Aromas of red fruit, particularly Morello cherries.
Taste: Well structured with sustained tannins. Perfect to drink upon release.
The vineyards of the red Côtes du Rhône «Belleruche» extend over the "communes" of Sablet and Séguret, on a silty and stony subsoil coming from the former bed of the Rhône.
Notes on our Wines of the Week, Recommendations, and Picks:
When you read our thoughts, please remember that you may think differently. A particular wine may be your favorite and not on our list. Well, don't stop buying it because of that. In fact, you may want to email us and let us know about it. These are our opinions but our FIRST recommendation is to go by your own palate.
A couple of other thoughts...first, prices are approximate. They'll vary. Second, different vintages mean different grapes and different tastes so our recommendation for a 2000 Merlot may not hold for 2001.
And lastly, we remind you to drink responsibly! Now, all that said, here is a summary of links to our suggestions. Find one (or more) and pop the cork!
