Ask a wine lover if you need special wine glasses to enjoy wine and you'll get lots of answers.  And the fact is there aren't any wrong glasses to use... just some that give you different things.  

For example, clear glasses let you see the wine and the color can tell you a lot about the variety and age before you taste.  

Glasses should be easy to hold and keep the heat of your hand away from the wine - see why those stems are a good idea?   And a larger bowl that tapers in a bit lets you swirl the wine.

Of course swirling the wine helps release its aromas to fire up your taste buds for that first sip. But the choice is yours.

One of our all time best glasses of wine came in a small water glass. It was poured from a bottle with no label in a little village in Italy!
