Burgundy's
most famous and priciest wines come form the Cote D'Or and Chablis.
Great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay!
But then there's the "other" Burgundy,
a little off the beaten track - the Cote
Chalonnaise and the Maconnais.
Both will give you a taste of Burgundy
style with more down home prices. Within the Macon the wines
for everyday include the village name on the label, like Macon
with Lugny for example.
A notch higher are Pouilly Fuisse'
and Saint Veran. These Macon chardonnays have the crispiness
and richer body of Burgundy at wallet friendly prices.
For you Pinot Noir lovers the Cote
Chalonnaise puts Burgundy on your table to drink now and enjoy.
The wines of Mercurey, Givry and Rully stand out with that distinctive
fruity earthiness unique to the region.
The Cote Chalonnaise and Maconnais
are the "other" Burgundy - adjacent to the more famous districts
but often overlooked - and ripe for our discovery!
Check out the
map and our picks below then taste and compare the "other"
Burgundy.
Pop the cork™.
