California
Central Coast
Usually
we think of California and wine, and the words Napa and Sonoma
pop right up. Butwe’d like to raise your consciousness
about another region and get the wines of California’s Central
Coast a place at the table.
The
Central Coast runs between San Francisco and LA. Now that’s
a lot of ground to cover so let’s hone in on two counties,
San
Luis Obispo and Santa
Barbara. Clustered in these counties are wineries crafting
all the California varieties. But it’s the Chardonnay
and Pinot Noir that are zooming in popularity.
The
geography is ideal for these wines. The mountains run east
west which opens the vineyard valleys directly to the cool air
pumped out by the cold Pacific though the night and early morning,
while that generous, and hot, southern California sun is there
to nurture the grapes all day.
This
ying and yang helps give the grapes just the right balance of
ripeness and acidity and wines that have oodles of flavor and
complexity…and won’t break the bank either.

the Central Coast here at The
Wine Experience.
