Condrieu
Tucked
away in the Northern Rhone
of France
is a small area that produces
an incredibly vibrant white wine
The
wine is Condrieu and the grape is Viognier. The Viognier of
Condrieu is a study in contrast. It's a big full flavored wine
meant to drink young, with a beautifully aromatic and almost delicate
floral scent.
And
here's the kicker . . . it's expensive, averaging over $40 per
bottle.
So,
why are we talking about it? Because Condrieu is a very special
white wine. The contrast of full and delicate makes it a terrific
food wine . . . Condrieu is a special occasion white wine that's
perfect to enjoy with a fresh Maine
lobster.
Serve
it cool but not cold to bring out most of the honey-like flavors
of the Viognier.
Condrieu
is a classy wine and not for everyday. But if you're looking
for a distinctive white wine experience, give it a try.
Pop the cork™.
