Many people hear
the word Bordeaux and immediately think of high priced wine and
wine snobs. Well, let's change that right now! We want you
to know that Bordeaux is a big place, with lots of fun, drinkable
everyday wine.
The Bordeaux classifications
are a guide for you to find good value wines.
With the chateaus
broken down into different "growths" or classes we can look to
the third, fourth or fifth "growths and to the wines from Bordeaux
growing areas known as the satellites, like Lalande de Pomerol
or St. Georges- St. Emilion.
One area to look
for is the Cotes de Bourg.
It's across the river
from the more famous Margaux and the wines, which are mostly merlot
and cabernet, are consistent, affordable and ready to drink.
It's just a question
of what to look for on the label when you head to the wine shop.
Take it with you next time and try some of the "other" Bordeaux.
