Spanish Cava

In Spanish the word cava means cellar. but when it comes to wine, Cava is the Champagne of Spain.

When you think sparkling wine you probably think of Champagne, but two of the world's largest producers of traditional method sparkling wine like Champagne are from Spain, and they even have offspring wineries in California too.

Cava and Champagne share more than bubbles.   Cava has been made the same way as Champagne since the 1800's - but using native Spanish grapes of course.   Most come from the area near Barcelona called Penedes.

The methode champenoise, or traditional method, results in a higher quality wine with more delicate bubbles.

The sparkler undergoes a second fermentation and aging in the bottle. which is when it gets fizzy.

Spanish Cava are really priced to enjoy anytime you want something fun and bubbly.    No need to wait for special occasions here!
