Wine of the Week!
Trimbach 2004 Pinot Blanc Alsace $13
This week our wine of the week is a variety you may not be familiar with… Pinot Blanc. Our choice is Trimbach 2004 Pinot Blanc from the Alsace region of France.
Pinot Blanc has long been in the shadow of Chardonnay but it's like a more subtle version without the creamy bigness. And Trimbach is one of the great producers in Alsace. It’s here that Pinot Blanc is really taken seriously as a fine wine.
The 2004 is light but flavorful. We taste honeydew melon with some lively apple mixed in but with a nip of acidity that makes it great with food and the combination of lightness, along with this fruity flavor, means it’s a delicious addition to your cooler or fridge.
It’s a wine to have on hand and ready to serve whenever a glass of white is the request and its easy drinking makes it ideal for parties in the yard or on the patio… especially at about thirteen dollars a bottle.

Winemaker's Notes and Comments:
The Trimbach Gewürztraminer is dry and shows classic restraint, without any loss of the Gewürztraminer’s exotic, spicy character.
When you read our thoughts,
please remember that you may think differently. A particular wine
may be your favorite and not on our list. Well, don't stop buying
it because of that. In fact, you may want to email
us and let us know about it. These are our opinions but our
FIRST recommendation is to go by your own palate.
A couple of other thoughts . . . first, prices
are approximate. They'll vary. Second, different vintages mean
different grapes and different tastes so our recommendation for
a 2000 Merlot may not hold for 2001.
And lastly, we remind you to drink responsibly!
Now, all that said, here is a summary of links to our suggestions.
Find one (or more) and pop the cork!
