Discover the White Wine of the Loire Valley: The Wine Experience

Are you familiar with the white wines of the Loire Valley?

The Loire is often overshadowed by the famous red wines of France. Let's change that. This is a part of France that's a tourist's dream too with easy access from Paris and elegant chateaux dotting the landscape.

It's a big region most famous for Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc wines. Vouvray is the village best known for its Chenin Blanc. Many are just a bit sweet but have a backbone of acidity to keep it balanced.

This is wonderful food wine, especially with creamy sauces and richer seafoods. Sancerre and Pouilly Fume are where Sauvignon Blanc is the star.

The wines are fresh tasting and a little tart - more grassy and herbal than sauvignons from New Zealand or America. These are really good salad wines.

Try a chilled Sancerre with a classic chopped salad or that grilled chicken Caesar next time.

So let's tour the Loire with some delicious whites below!

Pop the Cork.
