OK. This week we have a lively white wine for you as my wine of the week pick, Kim Crawford 2007 Marlborough Dry Riesling from New Zealand.
Why is it lively? Well for starters, when you twist off the cap, pour a bit and take a whiff there’s the immediate pop of citrusy lemon lime aromas to jump start your taste buds.
Right away there’s the promise that this will be a fresh tasting and crispy wine when you sip it. And that sip won’t disappoint. We think you’ll find the dominant flavor is like summer honeysuckle in bloom.
We love Riesling for its passionately good pairing with Asian foods and this one, as it says on the label, is dry. That means a clean and refreshing finish perfect for a spicy shrimp stir fry, ginger chicken or even the delicate flavors of sushi.
The Kim Crawford Dry Riesling is perfect to serve when the guests arrive as the opening taste for the evening too.
It’s versatile and easy to drink and priced around sixteen dollars. And when you twist the cap on Kim Crawford Riesling just say “Pop the Cork!™”

Winemaker’s Notes and Comments: Our Dry Riesling has lashings of lime and lemons and hints of honey and zesty spice and a lovely palate richness and length. Tropical fruit flavours also emerge to linger together with the lime on the palates finish. This wine will develop honey and kerosene like characters with age. Dry Riesling makes a great match with most seafood and spicy food.
Tasting Notes: Colour: Palest green. Aroma: Wonderful lifted aromas of citrus, honey and apple blossom. Palate: A citrus burst is immediately obvious on the palate. A lively little wine with good structure, palate weight and persistence. Food Match: An ideal aperitif or suited to delicate fusion foods. Cellar: Great now and can only get better. Will keep up to 10 years with careful cellaring.

Notes on our Wines of the Week, Recommendations, and Picks:
When you read our thoughts, please remember that you may think differently. A particular wine may be your favorite and not on our list. Well, don't stop buying it because of that. In fact, you may want to email us and let us know about it. These are our opinions but our FIRST recommendation is to go by your own palate.
A couple of other thoughts . . . first, prices are approximate. They'll vary. Second, different vintages mean different grapes and different tastes so our recommendation for a 2000 Merlot may not hold for 2001.
And lastly, we remind you to drink responsibly! Now, all that said, here is a summary of links to our suggestions. Find one (or more) and pop the cork!
