We have a Wine of the Week choice that will probably broaden your horizons. It’s a delicious Riesling from Germany: JJ Prum 2007 Estate Riesling Kabinett for about thirty dollars.
Thirty dollars you say!? Yes, it’s a bit more than many of our picks but it’s a wine experience to enjoy a beautifully made German Riesling.
This one delivers all of the grace that defines the grape, from the floral scents to the stone fruit taste, and from the ripely concentrated layers of flavor to the brightly balanced acidity.
Riesling is one of the great white wines and probably underappreciated in the US. The Prum is a young wine that will get even better with a few years of aging. But you’ll find it a delight with sea foods and just about anything with either an Asian influence or smoky flavor.
Our JJ Prum Riesling is a Kabinett. That means it’s the driest style of Riesling from Germany and a lively, tasty wine of the week.

Winemaker’s Notes and Comments:
The J.J. Prüm Estate Riesling Kabinett shows especially floral and herbal aromas. A very enjoyable wine just now – with good ageing potential. Serve this refreshing wine slightly chilled! As apéritif or in combination with seafood or poultry. Critical acclaim: "Extremely youthful and tightly wound, this feels refined and sophisticated, and seems to have all the necessary components for graceful aging-balance, acidity, depth of fruit. It just needs another year or two to settle down and better integrate its parts."

"The floral, peach and chive aromas and flavors need some coaxing to emerge in this lacy, delicate Riesling. Balanced and long, but needs air if you are going to enjoy this now. Best from 2010 through 2024."
